The Tread Tool is a tread template making tool that allows the tread installer to take accurate measurements of the length and angle of cut. Using the Tread Tool ensures that your stair treads will fit your staircase perfectly.
Take a piece of 3/4" scrap wood and place the tread tool on each end of the board.
Place the tread tool in the staircase and press the tool flush against the surface of each stringer.
When the tread tool is flush against both stringers tighten down the clamp on each tread tool.
Transfer the tread tool to the tread or retread you are going to install in the staircase. Use a pencil to mark both edges and cut on this line. Your stair tread will match your staircase perfectly in length and angle.
