The Stairtek protection
system
was developed and created for our production building
clients who install their prebuilt staircases into their
new
homes at an early stage of construction.
The system is designed to
cover the Stairtek prefinished stair treads with a piece of 1/8"
Eucalyptus Duratex high density hard board. This board
protects the tread from damage during the construction process.
It is also moisture proof, shielding the tread from the elements
of rain and snow. Our second line of defense is a cardboard
cover that not only holds the hard board in place but gives you
that added protection against jobsite dirt, dust and debris.
This cardboard is also water resistant with a special treatment
called Hydroban. The installation process is designed to
be installed from the bottom up. Starting with the first
tread and working your way up the staircase. Cutting the
cardboard protection with a tight fit from stringer to stringer
and overlapping it like flashing eliminates the ability of
jobsite debris to contact the Stairtek tread.
